But these are few and far between, and usually when some tourist has been flashing the cash.

Should you ever be involved in an accident during your stay here in Pattaya, what ever happens ensure you do not flee the scene, as this will be regarded as the accident being your fault! Unlike most western countries, Thailand openly accepts that many situations can be easily and better resolved by way of a financial payment. If you are involved in an accident and it was your fault, it can be better to make an offer of a payment to the other people involved, especially the Thai’s. This will then conclude the matter without the need for any Police involvement.

If you are ever stopped by the Police for any traffic offence don’t be surprised or annoyed if you are asked for money. Fines for minor traffic violations can often be paid for on the spot. Don’t think too much about where the money goes.
