Soi 6 Pattaya, also known as Soi Yodsak or Short Time Alley, epitomises Pattaya’s reputation as a destination for sex tourism. Down this street, which extends over a few hundred metres, you will find beer bars, go go bars, pubs, massage outlets and even regular business establishments. However, you will find many male western tourists frequenting the area for a very specific reason – the Soi 6 bars with rooms attached, where they can take one of the bar girls for a short sexual encounter. Usually, there is a bar fine and room rent to be paid, in addition to the fee to the girl.

What to expect

If you are looking at exploring the nightlife in Pattaya and are shy, the atmosphere down this street may be too sleazy for your liking. There is none of the glitz, glamour and flirting, which is common in other popular nightlife areas, such as Walking Street. Soi 6 Pattaya has several short time bars, where you will find girls outside competing to get your attention, so they can make some quick money.

The girls on the street may not be as good looking as the ones you see in go go bars, but with the amount of time and money that you can save for the same result, you can’t really complain. Pattaya Soi 6 girls do not expect to be treated like princesses. You don’t have to buy them too many drinks or flirt for a while. You just have to pay, go to the room and get on with business. Be warned that at such a low price, the rooms are grubby, cell-like and often come with a common toilet. So if you are fiendish about cleanliness or want luxury, then the short time bars on Soi 6 Pattaya are not for you. If, however, you are willing to forgo comfort for a quick experience, this is the perfect place and probably safer than trying to pick up an unknown girl from the Beach Road.

There are also some ladyboy bars along Soi 6 Pattaya with rooms attached for short time encounters. There are a few located along the main street, but the short stretch, Soi 6/1, is where there is a concentration of ladyboy bars.

Location & Hours

You will find Soi 6 Pattaya immediately after Central Pattaya Road and between Beach Road and Pattaya Second Road (Pattaya 2). The short time bars open for business from 1 pm and don’t close until late night, around 1am. The best time to visit them is in the afternoon or early evening as the area is not considered as safe at night.

What to watch out for

Bear in mind that Prostitution is illegal in Thailand. You may see Pattaya bar girls with men and think that this is how things are in Thailand. However, if you are caught buying sexual favours, irrespective of the arrangement you and your partner come to regarding any form of sex, you could face imprisonment as a penalty. In fact, there are occasional raids by the Thai police on the bars on Soi 6 Pattaya, but they always manage to reopen within a few weeks or a month, sometimes under a different name.

You should also take the necessary precautions while engaging in sex, keeping in mind that these Pattaya girls are with multiple partners on any given day. Most of the short time bars have free condoms in the room, so practise safe sex, for your own good. When you visit the short time bars, be careful with your personal items and valuables. Keep your wallet handy at all times and leave expensive items in your hotel safe before venturing here.
