Walking Street Pattaya – a world renowned sensory experience!

Pattaya has long been famous for its vibrant lifestyle. You find attractive beaches, a mind blowing array of world class restaurants coupled with modern shopping arcades, plus plenty of leisure sports both aquatic and land.

However it is the legendary nightlife in Pattaya where this amazing city is in a class of its own. The focal point of this Pattaya nightlife is a 1.5 km stretch of paved walking area aptly named “Walking Street”

heaven-above-ago-go-walking-street-pattaya

When I first experienced this unique walk, I started at the Pattaya Beach Road entrance and was immediately overcome by the rarified atmosphere that was to become stronger the more I proceeded.

There are very few places that can truly be described as a ‘Sensory Experience.’ Walking Street Pattaya is certainly one of them. Every sense – hearing, sight, smell and feel are on overload. You are immediately bombarded by music both live and recorded coming from every restaurant, ice cream parlour, open air live rock venues – it’s all there – not to mention a dazzling array of neons continually flickering and changing as you continue your stroll.

Here you will find some other Photos of Walking Street in Pattaya showing this amazing nightlife venue!

Now let’s discuss the real reason why this walk is so unique. This stretch of pavement can only be described as a true kaleidoscope of humanity which is represented in every form.

For those of you who are into the laidback activity of “people watching” you are in for an absolute feast. Nothing quite prepares you for the rich tapestry of character that you will observe, as well as a veritable representation from most countries in the world on any given night. You will also find nests of Go-Go girls holding up placards coaxing you into their establishments, hawkers offering you all sorts of bizarre merchandise, as well as the offers to whisk you away to view “Special” shows featuring all sorts of alternative uses for the female anatomy.

As you stroll further along Walking Street you notice a Muay Thai boxing match being fought, and street performers gathering small crowds to watch their particular expertise. On you stroll and you observe all these people looking skywards – you glare up – and notice a sign stating “European Girls Dancing” Yes a number of scantily clad European girls are entertaining the masses below. Take a few more paces and you can’t help noticing the ever present Ladyboys or Kateoys of Pattaya in the wildest, shortest, tightest and most revealing outfits strutting their stuff to try and gain as much attention as possible from their provocative antics.

I have just touched on some of the many attributes that makes the “Walking Street Experience” a truly memorable highlight with sights witnessed that will be araldited in your subconscious for years to come.

However reading about it just whets the appetite – you must experience this for yourself. No matter what you do and see here in Pattaya, the Walking Street Pattaya experience has to be savoured.

Pattaya go go bars are one of the main attractions for tourists coming to the city.

The nightlife in the city is famous throughout the world, and a large part of this reputation is thanks to the go go bars. In fact, there are more go go bars in Pattaya than in any other city in Thailand. If you are wondering what a go go bar is, it usually refers to a beer bar with music, which has go go dancers or scantily clad girls, who dance erotically against a steel pole.

fahrenheit-a-go-go-walking-street-pattaya

The go go bars in Pattaya are similar to those in other parts of the world as far as the dancing goes. In addition, some have sex shows or Jacuzzis where you can watch girls bathe each other. The general atmosphere in most of the Pattaya go go bars is not sleazy and different from what you might expect from a striptease joint back home. Instead, it is lively and fun, and everything that goes on inside Pattaya gogo bars has the sole purpose of titillating customers enough to make them buy drinks for the girls, or pay the bar fine to take the girls to a more private place.

Go go bars have become synonymous to Pattaya nightlife and most tourists visit one at least for the ‘been-there-done-that’ factor, if not for picking up the beautiful Thai girls. Depending on preferences, there are several types of Go Go bars Pattaya has to offer. Some bars are large with many girls, others small with only a handful of girls.

living-dolls-showcase-a-go-go-walking-street-pattaya

Some have classy interiors with excellent sound and lights. There are also some Pattaya go go bars that cater exclusively to gay and lesbian tourists. The way things work in these bars are very similar. The girls (or boys) dance sexily on stage while the audience watches from their seats. The performers have numbers on their clothes or bodies, so that they are easily identifiable when you want to ask them to join you for a drink.

Most of the girls in the Pattaya bars are extremely friendly and fun loving. They are quite happy to sit at your table and chat as long as you replenish their drinks often (these drinks are usually priced higher than your own, and the girl earns a commission on every drink that you order for her). If you would like to take it a step further, you will have to pay a bar fine to take her someplace more private.

The largest concentration of gogo bars Pattaya has is in the area around walking street, which is considered the hub of the city’s nightlife. There are also other go go bars in almost every part of Pattaya. However, Walking Street Go Go bars are popular for a reason. Besides having some of the city’s best options for go go entertainment, there is the unlimited choice for bar hopping to your heart’s content until you find a bar that you like or the girl of your dreams.

Pattaya ladyboys are a source of great interest for many visitors to this amazing city affectionately known as “Fun Town”. As such no Pattaya information website would be complete without mentioning the infamous Thai ladyboy.

pattaya-ladyboy

Over the decades the ladyboy has become solidly entrenched in Thai culture. They have been present in Thai society for decades, mainly due to the tolerant attitude of the Thai people, and the total acceptance of the presence of Thailand ladyboys throughout the Kingdom.

These immaculately groomed and presented transsexuals are found in every level of Thai society. They have also featured in a number of Hollywood films over the years, most recently in the comedy “Hangover Part II”. Another great example of how mainstream ladyboys in Thailand have become.

However the epicenter of Thai ladyboy activity would have to be Pattaya. All one needs to do is take a stroll down the notorious Walking Street on any night of the year and nests of ladyboys can be seen congregating around the many bars where they work. The most famous of these bars is the “Jenny Star bar” a walking street institution.

If you are interested in seeing some of the many Pattaya ladyboys that can be found in and around the Walking Street bars take a look at this video below.

To the untrained eye these Pattaya ladyboys are very hard to distinguish from genuine women. For many people enjoying the nightlife in Pattaya half the fun is trying to pick which are the ladyboys from the vast amount of women that are always available in the truly amazing nightlife venues. Usually the broad shoulders, their height and size of their feet are tell tale physical signs, and of course when they speak this is yet another giveaway.

As well as Walking Street there are a number of cabaret shows featuring Pattaya lady boys dressing in elaborate costumes miming songs and dancing. Two of the most popular are Tiffanys Cabaret in Pattaya and the Alcazar Cabaret in Pattaya. If you are planning a trip to Pattaya, then a visit to one of these shows should be a must, a great addition to the many other attractions in Pattaya that are also available.

Pattaya also has a number of Go-Go bars that cater exclusively for customers who are interested in ladyboys. “Stringfellows” and “Obsessions” are two that have been on the ladyboy bar scene for a number of years.

For those interested in more detailed information of the ladyboy scene in Pattaya and beyond there are a number of websites that follow the various ladyboy venues and their staff. Two of these are lb-69.com and ladyboyspattaya.com

As has been stated before the presence of ladyboys in Pattaya is yet another exotic addition to the over expanding tapestry of character that you can view and experience along with all the other Pattaya adventures to be savoured.

The most celebrated festival in Thailand is the Songkran festival.

This is the beginning of a new solar year and it is the traditional Thai New Year. It starts every year on April 13th and lasts for 3 days. However depending on which part of Thailand you are visiting the festival can go on for as long as 7 days.

The main reason for the festival is Thai people believe that the water will wash away any bad luck. For that reason back in the villages throughout Thailand you will find that Buddha images are bathed as part of a ceremony, and families gather and pay their respects to their elders by pouring scented water onto the hands of their parents and grand parents, and by presenting them with gifts. The elders in return wish the youngsters good luck and prosperity.

Usually most people who originate from the rural areas, and who work in the major cities like Bangkok, return home to spend this time with their families. Because of this you will find that this is probably the only time throughout the whole year, you can travel quite freely around Bangkok.

Below you will see some pictures from the Songkran 2009 water festival. Each photo has a brief description of what it’s about, and in addition to this if you click on each individual picture you will be able to view the full size image of that photo. Throughout this page you will also see various links. These will take you to even more Songran photos, as described in each link.

This photo was taken of four young Thai people trying to avoid getting wet while driving their motorbike. As if the umbrella would help them, No Way!

250x180xsongkran-picture-13.png.pagespeed.ic.A5Q-7Ey4Y8

This picture was taken of a Thai girl with what can only be described as a massive water pistol. She looks absolutely soaking wet through. If you come to Pattaya at Songkran you can expect to get like this.

250x180xsongkran-picture-8.png.pagespeed.ic.YBKOmKU7VB

Here’s another Thai girl having fun with yet another massive water pistol, would you like to be in the back of that taxi? If you were you would no doubt be as wet as her.

250x180xsongkran-picture-5.png.pagespeed.ic.bG-_FHvMKA

This photo was taken of some young Thais who were waiting to through buckets of water at passers by or even people riding by on their bikes.

Watch Out!

This is what a typical road looks like during Songran, don’t think you’ll be getting anywhere fast with this traffic. This is the main road between Pattaya and Jomtien.

songkran-picture-14

Here’s another one, you get quite a lot of people in fancy dress, after all this is one major party.

Fun, Fun, Fun that’s what this water festival is always about.

Pattaya is one of the places that the festival lasts the longest. It usually starts off fairy quietly on the 13th and by the time you get to the 18th and 19th April all hell breaks loose.

Here you will find some more pictures of Songkran in Pattaya.

So remember if you are in Pattaya around this time and plan to go out, you can expect not to get just wet, but absolutely drenched.

The post Real Estate Investors Guide to the Pattaya Property Market appeared first on Lets Go Pattaya.

]]>

Most real estate investors look to buy properties that will multiply the value of their investment manifold either due to price appreciation or excellent rental incomes. With the current recessionary trends prevailing in western countries, many investors in real estate are looking eastward for expanding their property investment portfolio. Of the various countries, Thailand is a popular option as it has one of the highest economic growth rates in the region. In addition, the country is considered a relatively safe choice for property investment overseas due to its popularity as a tourism destination, which has resulted in a significantly high demand for property over the past decade.

The Pattaya Advantage

Of the various cities in Thailand, Pattaya offers the best real estate investment opportunities due to its status as a tourism centre and a haven for retired expats, excellent infrastructure (such as hospitals and schools) and good connectivity as Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport is just over an hour away by road. Most of the major international hotel chains have already invested in Pattaya (an indicator of its potential for real estate investors), and despite this, there is still a shortage of rooms during the peak season. For those looking to cash in on the real estate boom in Pattaya, there are several investment properties for sale, including some upcoming condo projects.

Legal aspects

Thai property laws have certain restrictions on foreign ownership of property, but overall the process is simple as these restrictions are mainly to do with land ownership. Condos are a good option for Pattaya investment as foreigners can invest without much difficulty. However, there are also several legal clauses related to condo ownership such as only a certain percentage of the total number of units can be owned by foreign real estate investors.

Factors to consider before investing

There are a number of factors to be considered such as location, accessibility, quality of construction, reliability of the builder and price, as an investment will appreciate only if these basic conditions are met. While it isn’t easy for overseas investors to make an assessment, there are reliable and professional property investment in Pattaya companies, which can help with the process.

Pre-construction vs ready projects

Investors prefer to buy into condos during the early stages of construction as they can get the lowest prices by locking in at that time. In most cases, the investment appreciates by the time the construction is complete. However, real estate investors need to be cautious before blindly investing at the early stages. Several factors such as the financial viability of the project, clearances or even economic trends could affect the development of pre construction condos. It is almost impossible for an overseas investor to assess the ground realities or get a fix on the prevailing market conditions, so it is best to rely on local expertise.

Which areas are best?

Condominium development has been on the rise on the eastern seaboard and surrounding areas over the past few years, especially in Pattaya and neighbouring Jomtien. A search for investment property for sale in Pattaya would show up listings of several condos under construction as well as resale options. The city has been expanding rapidly, and condos have been coming up to meet the demand for property ownership. For real estate investors, who are looking at a secure investment, condos in Pattaya are a safe option as it provides easy access to entertainment and facilities, thereby ensuring long term income from rentals. Jomtien is also a good option as several tourists and expats prefer to live away from the noise and crowds of Pattaya.

Best condo projects for investment

Condos are the best real estate investment Pattaya has to offer and there is a choice of completed, pre construction as well as off plan condos that are suitable for investment. While the Pattaya area mainly has older projects where resale properties are a possibility, real estate investors can look at Jomtien properties for off plan, upcoming or newly completed condo developments.

For those looking to make an investment in a completed project in Jomtien, The Chateau Dale condo development is a good option. The complex has one bedroom, two bedroom and three bedroom duplex apartments to choose from. Some of these units are unsold while others are resale units. This condo investment Pattaya has to offer comes with wonderful views and excellent amenities, including landscaping, swimming pool, gym, Jacuzzi, spa and coffee shop.

A suitable option for investors looking for an under construction condo project is Acqua condominium in Jomtien. This project, which is expected to be complete by 2015, has two blocks with eight floors each. There is a choice of two bed, one bed and studio units. Real estate investors buying into this property can expect good rentals due to the location on the Jomtien seaside, which offers sea views, in addition to facilities such as a sky garden, yoga room and swimming pool.

Off plan developments are the best option for investment as real estate investors only have to pay a small deposit upfront before the construction begins. The remaining payments are staggered over milestones based on the progress on the project. In Jomtien, La Santir Pattaya is a good prospect for investment with studio, one bedroom or combined units available in 27 floors. All units have views of the sea or greenery around. Located around 1000 metres from the beach, this investment property also offers easy access to both the Jomtien Beach Road as well as the Sukhumvit highway. Facilities include landscaped gardens, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, gym and children’s facilities among other things.

The Atlantis condo resort in Jomtien is another interesting option in Jomtien that offers investors the chance to lock into a resort style development, which includes tropical gardens and a themed water park. With condos surrounding the largest swimming pool in Pattaya, this is one property from which real estate investors can be assured of long term returns from rental income. There are 1000 one bedroom units spread over five buildings with eight floors each.

Go Karting Pattaya allows you the thrill of driving a car at high speeds, and whether you are doing it for fun or as a hobby, there are tracks that are suitable for both novices and experts.

pattaya-go-karting-easykart-track

You can race at speeds up to 50 mph swerving along sharp curves and bends, with your kart sometimes spinning out of control as you negotiate the twists and turns. This is a great way to get a taste of Pattaya fun with your group of friends. It is also an exciting option for family entertainment, as long you do not have young children below the age of eight.

There are several options for go karting venues in Pattaya where you can experience the thrill of racing. Among all the activities in Pattaya this is the one that will give you the biggest adrenalin rush. It will probably be the closest you will ever come to being a race car driver on the Grand Prix circuit.

All go kart Pattaya venues come with safety equipment, so there is no risk of injury. The venues have instructors who will advise you on how it is done if you are a beginner or give you tips on how to take the bends if you are at the intermediate or expert level. Some tracks have karts that can go up to 80 mph if you are an experienced go karting enthusiast. In addition, after you have tired yourself out after many laps around the Pattaya go karting track, you can refresh yourself with snacks and drinks in the restaurants and bars at the venue.

The best venue for go karting Pattaya adventures is the EasyKart track located at the Bali Hai Pier just 200 meters away from Pattaya’s famous Walking Street. It is the biggest and the most High-Tech track in Pattaya with two tracks that can accommodate larger groups up to 500 persons, and it provides three different types of karts with engine capacities varying from 100cc to 270cc. Children will have to be above eight years to be eligible to try their hand at go karting on these tracks. It is considered one of the safest tracks and has convenient facilities attached for leisure such as a restaurant, bar and a billiards area. EasyKart is also popular with corporate groups because of its facilities.

Pattaya Kart Speedway is another option for go karting Pattaya venues. Located at Thepprasit road, between Thapphraya Road and Sukhumvit Road, this is the oldest track in the area and has been around for around 15 years. There is an 800m asphalt track for speed racers and a 400m asphalt track for beginners, which has smaller carts for children and double seat karts for those who want to go along for the ride. Also available is an off road dirt track for those who don’t like the asphalt surface.

Besides these two, there are two more go karting Pattaya tracks where you can try go karting if you are wondering what to do in Pattaya. The Bira Kart track, which is located opposite the Bira International Circuit Track spans over 1334m and has 20 different layouts to try out depending on your level. The other is the Mini Siam track that is located inside Mini Siam Park on Sukhumvit Road.

While you are on vacation with family or friends, there are days when you want to explore places away from your resort or enjoy some activities where everyone can have fun. Visiting one of the four go karting Pattaya tracks is guaranteed to give you an experience beyond compare and leave you with something to talk about when you go back home.

Pattaya diving sites are well known all over the world because of the two rings of coral islands that are located offshore around 20 to 30 kilometres away. Since some of these islands are the property of the Thai Navy, they are still unspoiled as construction activity is not permitted on them. As a result, colonies of fish and other sea creatures make their home in the coral reefs surrounding these islands, making scuba diving in Pattaya exciting.

pattaya-diving-cuttlefish

When you are wondering what activities in Pattaya you should try, you don’t have to cross out scuba diving from your list just because you haven’t done it before. There are beginner’s courses that you can take to learn the basics of diving in a few days. The beginner’s scuba course usually includes a dive off shore at a diving site that is of a low level of difficulty, giving beginners a peek into the colourful life underwater.

There are also Pattaya diving courses for divers of different levels of expertise, from Open Water Diver certifications to Instructor level courses. Your best option for finding a dive suitable to your skill level would be to enquire at one of the diving Pattaya centres in the town.

Thailand has several famous diving sites, the best of which are part of the Similan Islands or in the southern part of the country. However, one advantage that Pattaya diving sites have over the others is that they are open throughout the year with good visibility and calm waters. Most of the other sites are closed during the monsoon season. So whichever part of the year you plan to visit, diving can be one of the activities on your list of what to do in Pattaya.

cuttlefish-koh-chang-pattaya

The Near Islands are the closest diving sites off shore. The three islands belonging to this ring of coral islands are Koh Larn, Koh Sak and Koh Krok. In the reefs around these islands, you will see different types of fish depending on the depth of the waters. These include Butterfly fish, Angel fish, Damsel fish, Jacks and Rabbit fish. At places where the reef shelves to greater depths, you might spot Nurse Sharks or sea turtles, if you are lucky.

The Far Islands, which are further away from the shore, are calmer and offer better visibility than the Near Islands, mainly because there is no disturbance from water sport activities such as jet skiing. They are a group of five islands around Pattaya of which the best diving sites are around Koh Rin, Koh Manwachai and Koh Phai. Besides the smaller fish that you can see at the Near Islands, you will have higher chances of spotting barracudas, moray eels and different types of hard and soft coral around the Far Islands.

For those who like to dive around ship wrecks, Pattaya has some of the best dive wrecks in the world. Among the popular Pattaya diving wrecks are the HTMS Khram shipwreck located off Koh Phai, HTMS Kood wreck off Koh Sak and Hardeep, a World War II ship that was wrecked off the Samae San Bay. At all these sunken ships, divers get the opportunity to see an artificial reef underwater and experience the excitement of exploring the wreck.

Diving is an exhilarating activity that teaches you to appreciate the peaceful life at the bottom of the sea. When you are in Pattaya on vacation, going on a Pattaya diving trip can be one of the most memorable experiences of your lifetime. All you have to do is find a suitable dive school to organize your training and trip out to sea.

If you want to try something new, Pattaya fishing activities can give you a unique experience.

For a quiet day enjoying the sun, a visit to a Pattaya fishing park is a good option. You can fish at a freshwater lake and throw the catch back if you think it is too cruel and laze around on hammocks enjoying the breeze and the peaceful atmosphere. Game fishing enthusiasts will find a deep sea expedition challenging as the method of fishing will be completely different from what they are used to.

pattaya-fishing-park

There are several fishing parks in Pattaya where you can have a relaxing day in the outdoors. The most popular among these is the Pattaya Shooting Club & Fishing Park located 10 minutes away from the town center on Soi Huay-Yai off Sukhumvit Road. There is an instructor to teach beginners the basics of fishing. At the park, you can rent a fishing rod and buy bread for the fish. If you are looking to try your hand at fishing in Pattaya, you can learn to fish and spend the day casting your line to catch a giant cat fish or smaller variety at the lake. Once you catch a cat fish, it is weighed and then usually thrown back into the water after being given medication. If you fancy having fish for lunch, there is an open air restaurant nearby that serves great seafood cooked Thai style.

Pattaya Fishing Park also has several other sports and activities such as shooting, horseback riding and a tower jump. So if you are looking for a place to bring the family for enjoying outdoor activities in Pattaya, a trip here will bring smiles to everyone’s faces.

If angling is your hobby and you would be happy to spend the day doing just that, then Jimmy’s Fishing Park located off Soi Nernplabwan in East Pattaya is the place to visit. This fishing venue in Pattaya has three lakes and eight varieties of fishes, including carp that you can try to catch. Besides this, it has a great bar and a restaurant that serves both Thai as well as continental food.

There are many other fishing parks in Pattaya to try out if you love angling. These include the Soi 3 Fishing Park in North Pattaya, Jomtien Fishing Park located on the Jomtien Beach Road and Panarak Fishing Park near the Soi Siam Country Club.

If spending all day casting a line, feeling the wind in your hair and waiting in silence for a fish to take the hook is not your idea of fun, try a different style of Pattaya fishing by going on a deep sea fishing expedition. Many operators offer day or overnight fishing trips to one of the islands off Pattaya in the Gulf of Siam. Manwichai, Rin and Kram Islands are the most popular destinations for a relaxed day out at sea. The trips are made on traditional Thai fishing boats.

You can either bring your own gear or hire equipment on board. Either way, this Pattaya fishing experience will be thrilling as you can catch really huge fish. As the fishing boats do not have powerful engines, once a big fish bites your hook, you will have to anchor and play with the fish on your line until it tires out, before reeling it in. It will be an exciting battle between man and fish before you finally lay your hands on your catch.

The Pattaya deep sea fishing trips are usually all day expeditions that leave Pattaya early in the morning, anchor mid sea to catch your fish and then dock at an island where you can have cooked fish for lunch and relax by the sea before heading back to mainland before sunset.

So whether you are an avid angler or a beginner wondering what to do in Pattaya, fishing can be an adventurous or relaxing option depending on which you prefer. For peace and quiet, freshwater fishing at the lakes is suitable. For a bit of excitement, a deep sea trip can help you carry back memories of the uniqueness of Pattaya fishing and photographs of your prize catch. Either way, you will be assured of a relaxing day appreciating what nature has to offer.

One of the key attractions of Pattaya golf is that you can play all year round because of the tropical weather.

burapha-golf-course-pattaya

In addition, there are at least fifteen international standard championship golf courses in and around Pattaya, which have been designed by the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo, Robert Trent Jones, Pete Dye and Peter Thompson. Add to this the affordable green fees in comparison to playing at similar courses in other parts of the world, the excellent service and facilities, and you will realize why golfing in Pattaya is so popular.

Here is a guide to the best golf courses in Pattaya.

Laem Chabang

Rated one of the best in Asia, this Jack Nicklaus designed Pattaya golf course is spread over 700 acres. There are 27 holes, which include the Mountain 9, the Valley 9 and the Lake 9. Several streams and lakes run through the course to provide water hazards that add to the challenge that it presents. With lush greenery and beautiful scenery of the mountains in the backdrop, this course is part of the Laem Chabang International Country Club located half an hour away from Pattaya.

The club house and other facilities are world class and among the best of Pattaya golf courses. Unless you are a member, a round of golf could cost between 2000 baht and 3000 baht depending on whether it is a weekend or a weekday. Buggies are compulsory and cost an additional 600 baht. Caddy fees are 300 baht for 18 holes. All other gear such as clubs, shoes and umbrellas can be hired at an additional cost.

Siam Country Club

This club has two courses that are distinctly different from one another.

The Old Course, which is an 18-hole golf course was first designed in 1972 and has since been renovated in 2006. It still retains the charm of an old style golf course with tree lined fairways and lush greens. The Plantation course is the newer 27-hole course which was constructed in 2008. It has a modern design, the best feature of which is the well-designed club house located on top of the rolling hills offering panoramic views over the course and the ocean beyond.

Green fees for visitors range from 3000 baht on week days to 3600 baht on the weekend for 18 holes. In addition, the charge for hiring a cart (compulsory) is 650 baht and caddy fees are 350 baht at this golf Pattaya destination.

St. Andrews 2000

This Pattaya golf course shares its name with the oldest course in the world in Scotland, from where the game of golf originated. The 18-hole course designed by Desmond Muirhead is a par 74 that resembles a Scottish links course with its undulating surface, elevated tees and greens, and large putting surfaces. It is one of the most interesting as well as tough courses in Pattaya with two par sixes that are spread over 800 yards each. Green fees for playing an 18-hole round at this course cost 2500 baht on the weekends and 2000 baht on week days. Buggy hire is compulsory and costs 600 baht.

Khao Kheow

Designed by Pete Dye, this 27-hole course is one of the few international level Golf courses in Pattaya where carts are not compulsory. The course follows the undulating natural topography of the land through ponds, bunkers and hills, which add to its challenge. Like other courses on the eastern seaboard, the sea breeze adds to the level of difficulty. Visitor rates for green fees are 2500 baht on the weekend and 2000 baht on weekdays.

Green Valley

The Rayong Green Valley golf course is a Peter Thompson design. It is a picturesque Pattaya golf course that blends into the surroundings and hills in the background. Rocky surfaces and boulders act as natural hazards on this course. The 18-hole par 72 course is one of the most affordable with visitor green fees ranging from 900 baht on weekdays to 2000 baht on weekends.

Bangpra

One of the oldest Pattaya golf courses, Bangpra came up as early as 1958. It was renovated in 1988 through a joint venture between the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Japan Golf Professional Incorporated. Green fees vary depending on the time of day, with early morning rounds costing more than the afternoon. An 18-hole par 72 course, this is in a pretty setting in the midst of tropical foliage. Weekday rates for visitors range from 700 baht to 1400 baht, while weekday rates are between 1100 baht to 2400 baht.

Besides the hotels mentioned earlier, there are several others that have tennis courts, including the Montien Hotel, Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Hotel in North Pattaya and Jomtien Beach Resort. Fairtex is another Pattaya sports club that offers a wide range of sports facilities in addition to tennis courts.

The number of tennis courts in the city is an indication of the popularity of tennis as a sport in Pattaya. If you are planning a holiday and wondering what to do in Pattaya, signing up for a tennis holiday is the best thing you can do if you are a tennis fan. Besides enjoying the warm weather at this beautiful seaside resort town, you can take tennis lessons at one of the Pattaya tennis clubs during your stay or just relax and enjoy a game at your hotel.
